Book Review: Don't Shed A Tear

Book Description:

When Lola Hussey, newly fledged Private Investigator, was on a night out at a ragga party in London she spotted someone who looked like her long lost brother, Marley, on the dance floor.

As she pushed through the crowd to reach him, two shots rang out and there was alarm as screams replaced the boom of the music. Party goers immediately dropped to the floor in panic.

Lola's second case had begun - and this one was much closer to home.

Going undercover once again, this time in the shallow world of the music industry Lola soon encounters a world of revenge and violence leading to tragic consequences.

Book Review: The Deadline: A Novel about Project Management

Book Description:

The story is centered around the development of six software products. Mr. Tompkins, a manager downsized from a giant telecommunications company, divides the huge staff of developers at his disposal into eighteen teams — three for each of the products. The teams are of different sizes and use different methods, and they compete against each other... and against an impossible deadline.

With these teams, and with the help of numerous consultants who come to his aid, Mr. Tompkins tests the project management principles he has gathered over a lifetime.

Key chapters end with journal entries that form the core of the eye-opening approaches to management illustrated in this entertaining novel.

Book Review: Half of a Yellow Sun

Book Description:

Ugwu, a thirteen-year-old houseboy who works for Odenigbo, a university professor full of revolutionary zeal; Olanna, the professor’s beautiful young mistress who has abandoned her life in Lagos for a dusty town and her lover’s charm; and Richard, a shy young Englishman infatuated with Olanna’s willful twin sister Kainene.

Half of a Yellow Sun is a tremendously evocative novel of the promise, hope, and disappointment of the Biafran war.

Short Story: Peaches 'n' Cream

Peaches 'n' Cream is an erotic/love story by Ify Obienu, inspired by Yours Truly. It was written for a short story contest that never saw the light of day, so I decided to post it here so that the world can see. #Read #Enjoy #Share #PG18 #Fiction

“Quick Muna, get in my closet and be quiet,” I whispered, as I heard the loud pound on my bedroom door.

My father began yelling, “Isabel why is your door locked? Didn’t we ask you kids to always leave your bedroom doors unlocked? Open up.”

I went and unlocked the door and Dad came in, looking around, wondering what I had been up to. His eyes caught a pair of bra and panties scattered about and he immediately excused himself, feeling embarrassed. I quickly shut the door and locked it after him.

Book Review: Untraditional Publishing

Book Description:

First there was traditional publishing. Then came along self-publishing. Now, a third option for authors is Untraditional Publishing.

The biggest difference with Untraditional Publishing is that the author creates unique opportunities using confidence, knowledge, self-discovery, experience, and relationship marketing to build sales.

Book Review: Devil's Windpipe

Book Description:

A bestselling author, three bodyguards, a retired hostage negotiator, a psychic, and a private investigator team up to find a missing boy. The trail ends in a valley called Devils Windpipe…and that’s when their horror begins.

***

"Devil's Windpipe" is a full-length novel in the Psychological Thriller/Suspense genre by author Ron Knight.

Interesting plot, nice twists and turns. Not a surprise there. The story got me hooked.

What was also not a surprise was the ending. I was expecting an unsatisfying ending, just like two other books by Ron Knight, and that's what I got. I wish the author put in more energy writing the ending, as he did the main book.

Book Review: Holes in Space

Book Description:

Love, passion, lust, heartbreak, desolation, loneliness, celebration: these are some of the themes captured in this poetry collection; reflections of time, tiny holes in an endless open space, intriguing possibilities, where anything can be accomplished with the power of words.

***

"Holes in Space" is a collection of poems by author Andrea Barbosa.

I'm not really a poetry reader, but I enjoyed "Holes In Space."

My best poem was "Chocolate," and it's not just because I'm a chocolate lover, it was actually well written. I also liked the message in "Life Dream," about *living your dream while you still live.*

Good work to the author.

Novella Alert: Closed Door

Dear readers,

I hope you all are doing well.

I've got some good (?) news to share with you all.

When I had the idea for “Closed Door,” I never expected it to be more than a short story. But after a few people asked me to make a second part, I did. And since then, I haven’t been able to stop...

So far, I’ve written seven different parts, and I still haven’t had enough of Angela Hunter (the narrator of the story).

I’ve now compiled the seven stories and made it into a novella, still titled “Closed Door.” It’s available on SMASHWORDS and other major eBook distributors platforms.

It is also available in print on Amazon, Barnes&Noble and CreateSpace.

---

*An excerpt from Manni’s journal about one of his experiences with Miss Jones, from chapter 7*

I got to her place in forty minutes, but I hung around the neighborhood until it was time to go in. She smiled from ear to ear when she opened the door and saw me. She had the same pose Irene had the first time she came to my hostel room for some sugar: the stripper’s pose!

Book Review: Plot

Book Description:

There’s a good chance that you have been included with this PLOT. When author Nicholas Shay wrote his twenty-sixth novel he couldn’t have imagined what would take place after it was published. It wasn’t just the characters in the story be killed, but also people with the same name as the characters. Millions became fascinated by the murders and the popularity earned Nicholas Shay over two hundred million dollars…His plot worked to perfection.

***

"Plot" is a full-length novel in the Psychological Thriller/Suspense genre by author Ron Knight.

Beautiful plot. It was a fun read, although I thought Lake and Mardi's background story was quite long.

Spoiler Alert!
I never imagined Helen would be a part of the plot, or the Detective. It came as a surprise. I guess everyone is a suspect until proven otherwise. Towards the end, I predicted Helen, Lake, Mardi and RJ would work together by faking Helen's death and taking all the money.
Was my prediction right? I guess you have to read to find out yourself.
