If my book “When It’s Murder” was a #Hollywood movie, another important character, Martins Mason would be played by Conleth Hill, similar to his character as Varys in the “Game of Thrones,” but with a bigger tummy (as my character has a potbelly), and with hair, and a beard... okay maybe no beard, just some hair.

This was actually a tough one to pick because no character came to mind initially. All my beta/advanced readers loved Martins and picked him as their favorite character, so I had to take some time to find the perfect match before finally making a choice.

Just like Varys, Martins is very resourceful and knows how to get any information he wants... a skill that allows him to team up with Emilia, the main character, and help her find answers.

If my book “When It’s Murder” was a #Hollywood movie, another important character, Sonia Bruen would be played by Nia Long, similar to her character as Jordan in “The Best Man,” but a bit older like her in the movie sequel.

Sonia is a calculating friend and lover, who would do whatever it takes to get what she wants. The secrets she has and knows are guaranteed to cause havoc, so she’s willing to keep them, as long as hers are safe!

I had initially used “Samantha” as the character’s name, but I realised I have already used the name in one of my short stories and in another on-going project, which I would eventually change.

If my book “When It’s Murder” was a #Hollywood movie, another important character, Samuel Lake would be played by Samuel L. Jackson, similar to his character Mitch Hennessy in “The Long Kiss Goodnight,” but an older version... not as old as his character Stephen in “Django Unchained” though 😁.

The use of his first name for my character was intentional, as I just love the man. At least I replaced Leroy with Lake.  Just like Samuel Lake, Mitch was smart but funny and interesting. He didn’t really take things seriously until he got into trouble.

If my book “When It’s Murder” was a #Hollywood movie, my main character Emilia McGreg would look like Rooney Mara, in her portrayal as Lisbeth Salander in “The Girl with a Dragon Tattoo” mixed with her character in “Side Effect” as Emily Taylor.

(There’s no connection with the name I picked for my main character though. I only realised the similarity between the names when I was making the character look alike.)

By combining both movie characters, Emilia McGreg is both unhappy and eagerly in search of something... in this case, it’s why she believes she has come back to life in a different body.

Book Cover Reveal: When It's Murder

Dear readers,

I hope you all are doing well, because I am.

I'm happy to officially reveal the cover of my upcoming book, the first [stand-alone] in the Thrilling Mystery Series, "When It's Murder."

I had a lot of ideas for the cover, but I didn't want to give too much away or make the story predictable, and I also wanted something very simple. It then came to me, newspaper clippings... newspaper clippings played an important role in the book, so I thought it would make sense to feature it on the cover.

New Book: When It's Murder

I just finished writing and editing my third book for the year titled "When It's Murder," to be released on Friday, 14th December 2018, because the story starts on that day... I wrote in the future, so that readers can read in the moment as the story unfolds within one week, and then on Christmas day. The first title was "13th Of May," but it only lasted three days, when a chapter in the book inspired the new title.

It's a fast-paced character/dialogue driven mystery/suspense book that I wrote in under two weeks. It wasn't rushed, I'm just an insomniac writer, and it seems I've finally mastered the art and discipline of writing and finishing one book at a time within a given time frame.
